‘আল্লাহর কালাম’ ও ‘অনুপ্রাণিত পুস্তক’ হিসেবে দাবিকৃত বাইবেল রচিত, সম্পাদিত, সংশোধিত ও সংশোধনযোগ্য – একথা প্রায় সকল খ্রিস্টান পণ্ডিতই বিশ্বাস করেন। বাইবেল সংশোধনের ধারা বাইবেল রচনার পর থেকে আজও পর্যন্ত অব্যাহত আছে। খ্রিস্টান পণ্ডিতগণ বিভিন্ন সময় বাইবেল সংশোধন করে বলেছেন, এটি সংশোধিত ও নির্ভরযোগ্য বাইবেল। পরবর্তীতে সেই সংশোধিত বাইবেলেই পাওয়া গেছে হাজারো ভুল। পুনরায় খ্রিস্টান পণ্ডিতগণ ‘আল্লাহর কালাম’ সংশোধনে রত হয়েছেন! প্রকাশিত হয়েছে সংশোধিত সংস্করণ।
বাইবেলের ভুল ও সংশোধন বিষয়ে ‘লূক ম্যাগাজিনে’ (Look magazine) The truth about the bible শিরোনামে একটি প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয় ২৬শে ফেব্রুয়ারি ১৯৫২ সংখ্যায়। লেখক হার্টজেল স্পেন্স তার প্রবন্ধটি শুরু করেন একটি প্রশ্ন দিয়ে, ‘আমরা আজ যে বাইবেলটি পড়ছি তা কতটুকু নির্ভুল?’ কিন্তু গোটা প্রবন্ধে লেখক কোথাও প্রশ্নটির উত্তর দেননি।
লেখক হার্টজেল স্পেন্স বাইবেলের শুধু নতুন নিয়মের (প্রচলিত ইঞ্জিলের) ভুলের পরিসংখ্যান দিয়ে বলেন, “As early as 1720, an English authority estimated that there were at least 20,000 errors in the two editions of the New Testament commonly read by Protestants and Catholics. Modern students say there are probably 50,000 errors.”
অর্থাৎ “১৭২০ সালের দিকে এক ইংরেজ পণ্ডিত জরিপ করে দেখান যে, নিউ টেস্টামেন্টের (প্রচলিত ইঞ্জিল) দুটি সংস্করণ যেগুলো প্রোটেস্টেন্ট এবং ক্যাথলিক খ্রিস্টানগণ সাধারণভাবে পড়ে থাকেন, তাতে অন্তত ২০ হাজারের মত ভুল রয়েছে; আধুনিক শিক্ষার্থীদের মতে ভুলের সংখ্যা প্রায় ৫০ হাজার।”
এরপর লেখক বাইবেলের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কয়েকটি ভুলের কথা উল্লেখ করেন।
বাইবেলের বিকৃতি সম্পর্কে খ্রিস্টান পণ্ডিত পাদ্রী ফান্ডার আল্লামা রাহমাতুল্লাহ কীরানবী রাহ.-এর সাথে প্রকাশ্যে বিতর্কের সময় স্বীকার করেন যে, পুরাতন ও নতুন নিয়মের গ্রন্থগুলিতে ৪০ হাজার স্থানে ভুল আছে। (আল মুনাজারাতুল কুবরা, পৃষ্ঠা: ৩৩৭, দ্বিতীয় প্রকাশ: ১৪১০ হিজরী/১৯৯০ ইংরেজী, মাতাবেউস সফা, মক্কা)
‘দি প্লেইন ট্রুথ’ (The Plain Truth) পত্রিকার জুলাই, ১৯৭৫ সংখ্যায় John R. Schroeder তার The Bible: world’s most controversial book প্রবন্ধে বাইবেলের ভুল ও সংশোধনের বিষয়টি স্বীকার করে বলেন,
“There are claimed contradictions that theologians have not resolved to every atheist’s satisfaction. There are textual difficulties with which scholars are still wrestling. Only a Bible illiterate would deny these and other problems.” অর্থাৎ “এ সকল সুনিশ্চিত পরস্পরবিরোধী বিষয়ে খ্রিস্টান ধর্মতত্ত্ববিদগণ এমন কোনো সমাধান পেশ করতে পারেননি, যা ধর্মে অবিশ্বাসীদের সন্তুষ্ট করতে পারে। আর মূলগ্রন্থের পাঠ বা টেক্সটের সমস্যার সমাধানে আজও খ্রিস্টান পণ্ডিতগণ যার-পর-নাই চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছেন। শুধুমাত্র বাইবেলের বিষয়ে অজ্ঞ লোকেরাই অন্য আরো সমস্যাসহ এ সমস্যাগুলোকে অস্বীকার করে থাকেন।”
যাহোক প্রায় পাঁচ বছর পর হার্টজেল স্পেন্সের সেই প্রবন্ধের পর্যালোচনামূলক একটি প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয় ‘এ্যাওয়েক’ (Awake) নামের খ্রিস্টানদের একটি পাক্ষিক পত্রিকার ৭ সেপ্টেম্বর ১৯৫৭ সংখ্যায়। প্রবন্ধটির শিরোনাম ছিল ‘বাইবেলে ৫০,০০০ ভুল?’ (50,000 Errors in the Bible?)।
উল্লেখ্য, ‘এ্যাওয়েক’ পত্রিকাটি ‘জেহোভাজ উইটনেসেস’ (বাংলাদেশে যারা ‘যিহোবার সাক্ষী’ নামে পরিচিত) নামক একটি খ্রিস্টান সম্প্রদায় কর্তৃক প্রকাশিত। মানুষের দুয়ায়ে দুয়ারে গিয়ে যারা সবচে’ বেশি খ্রিস্টান ধর্ম প্রচার করে থাকেন তাদের মধ্যে অন্যতম হলেন এ ‘জেহোভাজ উইটনেসেস’ সম্প্রদায়। বাইবেলের এ পরিমাণ মারাত্মক ভুল সম্পর্কে তাদের মাথাব্যাথা হওয়ারই কথা!
“50,000 Errors in the Bible?” প্রবন্ধের লেখক বাইবেলের ৫০,০০০ ভুলের কথা প্রথমে অস্বীকার করলেও পরে তা স্বীকার করেছেন। এমনকি বাইবেলের মারাত্মক কয়েকটি ভুল (যেগুলোর কথা হার্টজেল স্পেন্স তার প্রবন্ধে উল্লেখ করেছেন) তুলে ধরে সেগুলো ভুল হওয়ার প্রমাণও উল্লেখ করেছেন। অবশেষে ‘আল্লাহর কালাম’ বাইবেল সংশোধিত হওয়ার দাবি করে বলেছেন, “অত্যন্ত তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ বিষয় হল, লেখকের (হার্টজেল স্পেন্সের) প্রবন্ধে উল্লেখিত ভুলগুলো সবচেয়ে আধুনিক অনুবাদে ইতিমধ্যেই সংশোধন করা হয়েছে।”
